Networked Fiber Optic Gyro Compass & Motion Reference Unit
The Navigat 3500 is a state-of-the-art fiber optic gyro (FOG) compass system and motion reference unit, delivering exceptional accuracy, reliability, and maintenance-free operation for modern vessels. Fully integrated into the CompassNet heading management system, it offers a scalable and networked solution designed for high-performance navigation and mission-critical applications. With its solid-state technology and absence of moving parts, the Navigat 3500 represents the next generation of gyro compass systems, combining maximum precision with minimal lifecycle costs.
Maintenance-free solid-state technology
Based on fiber optic gyro principles with no moving parts, eliminating wear and significantly reducing maintenance requirements over the entire service life.
Highest accuracy and dynamic performance
Provides heading accuracy of up to ≤ 0.15° (secant latitude, RMS) along with precise roll, pitch, rate of turn and heave data, it is ideal for demanding navigation and DP applications.
No north speed error
Unlike mechanical gyro compasses, the FOG technology is not affected by speed or latitude errors, ensuring consistent and reliable heading information, even at high latitudes.
Fast start-up and settling time
Initial settling within approx. 5 minutes and full accuracy achieved shortly after, enabling rapid deployment and operational readiness.
Integrated motion reference unit (MRU)
Delivers comprehensive motion data (roll, pitch, heave, rates), supporting advanced navigation, dynamic positioning and offshore operations.
Networked CompassNet architecture
Seamless integration into CompassNet allows multi-sensor configurations, redundancy setups, and connection with legacy or third-party systems.
Low lifecycle costs
Maintenance-free design and high MTBF of approx. 150,000 hours ensure long service life and reduced operational expenditure.
Compact and easy installation
Small footprint, low weight and reduced cabling requirements enable fast installation and flexible integration in both newbuild and retrofit projects.
